Whitney Gibbs is an entrepreneur and executive who builds companies at the intersection of emerging technologies. He scaled Compass Mining from zero to the world's largest Bitcoin mining marketplace, negotiating over a gigawatt of power contracts across 7 countries. Whitney moved into AI in 2022, following his time at Compass. He's spent the last 3 years building personalized AI products, with a focus on personal privacy and individual sovereignty.
Whitney was early to both crypto and AI. At Compass Mining, he scaled the company from zero-to-one, with bitcoin mining data center operations spanning 14 sites internationally. He established a culture centered on service and growth. Many of Compass's former employees now hold positions at prominent bitcoin mining companies or have started their own businesses to serve Bitcoiners.
As Founder of Ringfence, he was accepted into the NEAR AI Incubator led by Illia Polosukhin (co-author of "Attention is All You Need"). The company built products including Escher, a generative AI platform storing images onchain with proof of ownership, and Agent Xavi, an AI agent providing financial insights using X and onchain data.
Whitney was a founding sponsor, board member, and served as Bitcoin Mining Chairman of the Texas Blockchain Council from 2021-2022, working directly with the Texas government to craft legislation that helped make Texas a national leader in Bitcoin policy. He has also educated the US House Committee on Financial Services on Bitcoin mining as a member of the Digital Chamber of Commerce.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Affairs from Florida State University.
